WWE Hall of Famer Drops Bombshell: Why John Cena Must Lose His Final WWE Match

John Cena’s retirement tour has been one of the most historic runs in WWE history. From breaking Ric Flair’s record with his 17th World Championship reign to finally turning heel for the first time in 22 years, Cena has given fans unforgettable memories in his final year.

But as the end draws closer, the biggest question looms: Should John Cena win his last WWE match?

According to WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley, the answer is a resounding NO.

Bubba Ray Dudley Explains Why Cena Shouldn’t Go Out on Top

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dudley made it clear that letting Cena win his farewell match would be a mistake:

“I’m a traditionalist. I believe he should lose. Who benefits the most from beating John Cena in his last match? That’s the bigger question WWE has to answer.”

The legendary Dudley Boyz member argued that Cena’s final bout shouldn’t be about the 17-time World Champion himself, but about building the next megastar who can carry WWE into the future.

Who Should Retire John Cena?

Right now, Brock Lesnar seems to be penciled in as Cena’s last opponent. But Dudley believes that’s not the right move—because Lesnar is already an established name who gains nothing from it.

Instead, he suggests someone like Gunther or Bron Breakker should get the honor. A victory over Cena on the biggest stage could skyrocket their careers and give WWE its next powerhouse attraction.

“Can’t you still get your ultimate celebration if he loses? It’s John Cena’s last night, in Boston of all places—fans will celebrate him no matter what. Losing doesn’t take away from his legacy.”

The Bigger Picture

Whether it’s Brock, Gunther, or a new rising star, Cena’s farewell will be one of the most emotional nights in wrestling history. But as Bubba Ray pointed out, the story shouldn’t end with Cena standing tall—it should be about passing the torch.

After all, John Cena built his career on the motto “Never Give Up.” Maybe the best way to prove that legacy is to leave WWE stronger than ever… even in defeat.

👉 What do you think? Should John Cena ride into the sunset with one last victory, or should he do the honors and let someone new cement their legacy?
