“Kurt Angle & The Undertaker Expose Truth Behind WrestleMania Rumor That Refuses to Die”

For nearly two decades, WWE fans have debated one of the biggest “what if” scenarios in wrestling history: Was Kurt Angle supposed to end The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak back in 2006?

Well, the two Hall of Famers just put that rumor in the grave once and for all.

On the latest episode of The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, The Deadman himself and Kurt Angle tackled the long-standing speculation that Angle was lined up to be the man who snapped the streak at WrestleMania 22. Without hesitation, both icons immediately shut it down.

“No, I don’t want anybody to break that,” Undertaker said. “We wanted to wrestle at ‘Mania, but I didn’t want anybody to break the streak.”

Angle doubled down, explaining that while the dream match was pitched, Vince McMahon pulled the plug on the WrestleMania idea. Instead, WWE booked their classic clash a month earlier at No Way Out 2006.

“We presented it to Vince, and Vince said, ‘No, you’re going to wrestle the month before,’” Angle revealed. “I never thought the streak should have been broken anyway.”

Even Michelle McCool, The Undertaker’s wife, chimed in on the podcast, agreeing that the streak never should have ended in the first place.

Instead, history played out differently. The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania run lived on for eight more years before finally being shattered by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX in 2014—a result that still divides fans to this day.

The full podcast episode dives deeper, with Angle also opening up about his TNA career and giving his take on the current WWE–TNA partnership.

One thing’s for sure: when The Undertaker and Kurt Angle speak, the rumor mill doesn’t stand a chance.
