“Bret Hart Breaks Silence on His Rocky Relationship With Triple H—‘I Don’t Know Where We Stand’”
Bret Hart “The Hitman” Hart and Triple H have shared one of the most complicated relationships in pro wrestling history—and it all traces back to the infamous 1997 Montreal Screwjob. With Triple H’s involvement behind the scenes and Bret’s long-standing criticisms of his work, the two legends have never exactly seen eye-to-eye.
Fast forward to WWE Hall of Fame 2025, where both men were honored on the same night. Hart received the first-ever “Immortal Moment” award for his legendary WrestleMania 13 match against Stone Cold Steve Austin, while Triple H entered the Hall as a two-time inductee for both his in-ring career and his role as WWE’s Chief Content Officer.
The moment fans couldn’t stop talking about? A seemingly polite handshake between Hart and Triple H—followed by Hart’s subtle eye roll caught on camera. Social media erupted, with fans speculating if the old wounds were still wide open.

When asked about it by Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Bret laughed but gave an honest and emotional response:
“Did you guys notice that? I don’t know the answer to that. I tried to move on. I always compare it to carrying around a big bag of rocks. If you can just drop that big bag of rocks, it’d be a lot better for your mental and emotional state. At the same time, you have to follow your heart. I’m not sure where I stand with Triple H.”
Despite decades passing, it’s clear the Hitman still struggles to fully forgive The Game. While both legends have made history in WWE, their personal relationship remains murky—leaving fans to wonder if they’ll ever truly bury the hatchet.
