Ken Shamrock has worked with some of the biggest names in WWE history — but when it comes to The Rock, he says something was instantly different.
Speaking with Wrestling Life Online, the UFC legend looked back on sharing the ring with The Rock during WWE’s Attitude Era. According to Shamrock, you could tell from the moment The Rock sat down that he wasn’t like anyone else.
Shamrock explained that The Rock had a unique way of viewing matches and planning out every detail. Whether it was pacing a match, timing dramatic moments, or blending Shamrock’s style with his own, The Rock’s instincts were undeniable from the start.
“He sat down, and you could see right away his mind worked differently,” Shamrock recalled. “The way he put matches together, the way he understood timing, emotion, how to build and drop intensity — he saw it all before it happened.”
Shamrock said The Rock’s confidence and creativity exploded once WWE gave him the microphone and moved him out of The Nation of Domination.
“The minute they let him talk, it was over. The transformation was unbelievable. One of the fastest I’ve ever seen — they handed him the mic, and game over.”
