WWE Names New Replacement For Sheamus In “Last Time Is Now” Tournament
WWE has officially pulled Sheamus from the “Last Time Is Now” Tournament, and his replacement has already shaken up the competition.
The 16-man tournament, which will decide John Cena’s final opponent for the December 13th Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., kicked off earlier this month. Sheamus had a strong start, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round. But unfortunately, the Celtic Warrior’s momentum came to a halt.
Just hours before SmackDown in Denver, WWE announced on social media that Sheamus was being removed from the tournament due to a shoulder injury. The news came during a rare double taping of SmackDown, scheduled because of the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

On the November 28th episode of SmackDown (already taped), LA Knight steps up and defeats The Miz in the quarterfinals—moving one step closer to becoming Cena’s final-ever opponent. Meanwhile, The Miz, who already lost earlier in the tournament to Jey Uso but managed to sneak his way back in, suffers yet another defeat.
As for Sheamus, his last in-ring appearance was a major one. He teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio on the November 17th episode of Raw, picking up a big win over Finn Bálor, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio in what was Cena’s final Raw match.
WWE hasn’t revealed the severity of Sheamus’ shoulder injury yet, but fans and fellow Superstars are hoping the future Hall of Famer makes a quick, full recovery.
