“Seth Rollins Admits He ‘Stole’ His Visionary Gimmick — And the WWE Legend Behind It Will Shock You!”
Seth Rollins has never been shy about wearing his influences on his sleeve, and now he’s pulling the curtain all the way back.
During a recent appearance on Games With Names, the former World Heavyweight Champion revealed that a major piece of his wildly popular “Visionary” persona was inspired by none other than WWE Hall of Famer “Macho Man” Randy Savage — and Rollins says he flat-out borrowed from the legend.
“Macho Man Randy Savage. I stole some of my current character from him,” Rollins admitted with a laugh.
According to Rollins, the Visionary character was born during one of the strangest periods in WWE history: the COVID era. With no live crowds, no energy in the arena, and everything feeling stripped down, Rollins knew something had to change.
“It was boring. It was dead. There was no energy,” Rollins explained. “That’s not what I loved about wrestling. I loved the larger-than-life presentation — bright colors, over-the-top personalities.”
That’s when Savage’s name immediately came to mind.
Rollins pointed to Macho Man’s unforgettable promo style — loud, dramatic, and explosive — while still being believable once the bell rang. That balance became the blueprint for The Visionary.

But Savage wasn’t the only legend Rollins studied. He also name-dropped classic WWE villains like Ric Flair, Rick ‘The Model’ Martel, Mr. Perfect, and ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, calling them characters fans hated — yet couldn’t look away from.
“These were the guys I despised, but loved at the same time,” Rollins said. “I took pieces of all of them when I was figuring out what The Visionary could be.”
The Rock’s Unexpected Gift After WrestleMania 40
Rollins also shared a lighter story from the same interview — involving The Rock and an absurd amount of dessert.
After getting injured following their WrestleMania 40 tag team match, Rollins revealed that Dwayne Johnson sent him a massive care package filled with ice cream and chocolate.
“He sent me a giant amount,” Rollins said. “I mean, we still have pints in the fridge. There’s too much ice cream to go through. He’s a big cheat-day guy.”
What’s Next for Seth Rollins?
Rollins is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury suffered during his Champion vs. Champion clash with Cody Rhodes at WWE Crown Jewel: Perth. While fans continue to wait for his return, one thing is clear — The Visionary character is deeply rooted in wrestling’s golden era, with Macho Man’s DNA running right through it.
And if history is any indication, that larger-than-life energy is exactly what Rollins will bring back when he finally steps into the spotlight again. 💥
