Rey Mysterio’s Royal Rumble Fate in Serious Doubt After Scary RAW Injury Scare
Concern is rapidly growing around Rey Mysterio just days before the WWE Royal Rumble, following a frightening moment on Monday Night RAW that left fans stunned inside the arena.
The WWE Hall of Famer competed against Austin Theory on the latest episode of RAW in what initially appeared to be a routine singles match. However, the tone shifted dramatically when Theory’s faction became involved, and Mysterio went down after a chaotic sequence that immediately raised alarm.
What followed made the situation feel far more serious than a scripted beat. As the group attempted to continue the attack, the referee abruptly stepped in, signaling for the action to stop. Multiple fan videos from the venue captured the referee clearly throwing up the dreaded “X” sign—a signal typically reserved for legitimate injuries.
Rey Mysterio Reportedly Legitimately Hurt
According to wrestling insider Cory Hays, Rey Mysterio was indeed injured during the match and was escorted to the back by WWE medical personnel. The abrupt change in the segment, combined with the referee’s signal, strongly suggests the situation was not planned.

At this point, Mysterio’s status for the upcoming Royal Rumble is uncertain, casting a shadow over one of WWE’s most anticipated events of the year.
Another Cruel Twist for the Hall of Famer
The timing couldn’t be worse. Mysterio already missed a significant portion of last year due to injury, and fans were hoping to see him fully healthy heading into WrestleMania season. To make matters even more heartbreaking, his son Dominik Mysterio is also currently sidelined, meaning both members of the iconic family are dealing with setbacks at the same time.
As of now, WWE has not issued an official medical update, leaving fans anxiously waiting for clarity on Rey Mysterio’s condition and whether he’ll be cleared to compete at the Royal Rumble.
One thing is certain: the wrestling world is holding its breath, hoping this scare doesn’t turn into another long road to recovery for one of WWE’s most beloved legends.
