CM Punk Opens Up on Tagging With AJ Lee—And Why It Might Not Be a One-Time Thing
CM Punk’s WWE comeback has been nothing short of a career renaissance, but one moment stood above the rest for the reigning World Champion—sharing the ring with his wife, AJ Lee.
Since returning to WWE in late 2023, Punk has enjoyed the most rewarding stretch of his legendary career. The Chicago native reinvented himself, embraced collaboration backstage, and finally received the trust he long sought from WWE management. That patience paid off in a massive way. Punk headlined WrestleMania for the first time, captured the World Championship, and has remained at the center of WWE programming ever since.
His momentum only grew after Seth Rollins suffered a serious shoulder injury. Punk stepped into the spotlight at Saturday Night’s Main Event, defeated Jey Uso, and cemented his status as the company’s top champion with a decisive victory.
But even with all that success, Punk admits his proudest recent memory had nothing to do with titles.
In September 2025, AJ Lee shocked the wrestling world by ending her decade-long absence from the ring. Her return culminated in a blockbuster mixed tag match at Wrestlepalooza, where Punk and AJ teamed up against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch—a match praised for its chemistry and emotional payoff.
Speaking recently with Complex News, Punk couldn’t hide his joy while reflecting on that experience.
“I don’t have the words to explain exactly how enjoyable all that was for me,” Punk said. “I’m her biggest fan. To have a front-row seat for her return and help put everything together behind the scenes… knowing how special it was going to be — it was the time of my life. One hundred percent.”
Punk also hinted that fans may not have seen the last of the power couple inside a WWE ring.
“Selfishly, I want to tag with her more,” he added. “It feels like it might have been a one-off, but I don’t know. We’ll have to see.”
With Punk still on top of WWE and AJ Lee officially back in the spotlight, the door appears wide open for another unforgettable reunion — and fans are already hoping it happens sooner rather than later.
