Matt Hardy Sends Message to Former AEW Star Now Holding WWE Gold
Matt Hardy has nothing but respect for his former AEW colleague who’s currently making waves in WWE’s developmental brand.
The wrestling veteran took to social media to praise Ethan Page, who is currently enjoying an impressive run as NXT North American Champion. Page recently posted a video breaking down statistics about himself ahead of his match against Shiloh Hill, dubbing himself “not a stats guy” while still showing off his numbers.
Hardy, who has seen his fair share of championship gold over his legendary career, shared a photo with the NXT star and had some heartfelt words about Page’s journey.
“Proud of Ethan for rolling the dice and betting on himself. Most wrestlers would be afraid to take that kind of risk,” Hardy wrote. He went on to describe Page as “always a hard worker and student of the game” who isn’t afraid to learn from those who came before him.
Interestingly, Hardy also noted that Page has adopted some moves from the Hardy playbook, including a version of the Twist of Fate, which Page calls the “Twisted Grin.” The move has Page’s stamp of approval.
While Page’s new “stats guy” persona might be a fresh direction for his character, Hardy made it clear he’s genuinely thrilled to see his former teammate thriving in NXT. The praise comes as Hardy remains active with TNA Wrestling while keeping a close eye on the broader wrestling landscape.
