WWE Star Gets Completely Buried by MJF in Brutal Online Rant
MJF isn’t known for holding his tongue, and he just proved that again by taking a massive swipe at a top WWE star’s current career trajectory.
The internet wrestling community was set ablaze recently when the AEW World Champion hopped on social media. In a thread that already featured some sharp words for Will Ospreay and involved Kyle Fletcher and Tama Tonga, Friedman shifted his focus to a former New Japan Pro-Wrestling standout who is now making waves in WWE.
He’s talking about Jeff Cobb, the incredible powerhouse who wrestling fans haven’t seen in AEW but who recently signed with the competition. Now performing in WWE under the new ring name JC Mateo, Cobb has been positioned as a key enforcer alongside Solo Sikoa in his ongoing storyline on Friday Night SmackDown.
But according to MJF, the guy fans used to love has seemingly vanished.
In a post that dripped with sarcasm, MJF reminisced about the old Jeff Cobb while seemingly dismissing his current role in WWE. He wrote,
“Remember Jeff Cobb? He was freaking AWESOME. Miss that guy.”
The comment is being interpreted as a direct shot at Mateo’s current standing, suggesting that the former Olympic-caliber talent has been reduced to a background player in Sikoa’s faction rather than the monster singles competitor he was known as in Japan. It’s a classic MJF mind game, framing the WWE run as forgettable while praising the “old” version of the star.
