“I Wish I Could Shave My Head Again”: CM Punk Hints at Massive Change Before WrestleMania 42
Is the “Best in the World” about to take a razor to his famous look? With his biggest match in years just around the corner, CM Punk is giving fans a serious hint that he might be turning back the clock.
The wrestling world is currently buzzing about Punk, and it’s not just because he’s the face of the WWE 2K26 video game (out March 13, 2026). In a behind-the-scenes video for the game, Punk was looking back at some of his old character models. When he landed on his look from WrestleMania 27, he stopped and got real with the fans.
Punk pointed at the screen, calling the old gear “classic.” But it wasn’t the attire that caught his attention—it was the hair. Looking at his clean-shaven head from over a decade ago, Punk let a thought slip that has everyone talking.
“Man, I wish I could shave my head again,” Punk said, sounding genuinely nostalgic.
For fans, that throwaway line feels like more than just a random thought. With Punk set to walk into the biggest show of the year as World Heavyweight Champion, a return to the buzz cut would signal that the straight-edged icon is ready to get down to business.
From the Chamber to the Main Event of Mania

Punk’s road to New Orleans is officially booked. After Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble and chose to face Punk for the title, the stage is set for a colossal showdown at WrestleMania 42 on April 18–19.
Speaking with TalkSport, Punk admitted he was relieved Reigns made that choice.
“I’ve just appreciated that he picked me so I don’t have to pay any attention to the Elimination Chamber,” Punk explained. He called it a “champ problems” scenario—being the guy on top means you don’t have to scrap your way through the Rumble or the Chamber just to get to Mania.
But just because he doesn’t have to be in the Chamber doesn’t mean he’s taking time off.
A Homecoming in Chicago
Before he stands across the ring from Reigns, Punk has a massive title defense on his plate. At the Elimination Chamber event, “The Second City Saint” returns to his hometown of Chicago to put the title on the line against Finn Balor.
It’s a dangerous matchup for Punk. Balor is hungry for gold, and there is no love lost between these two. Plus, doing it in Chicago adds a mountain of pressure—Punk will want to deliver a classic for the fans who chant his name the loudest.
Whether he steps into the Allstate Arena with his trademark long hair or a freshly shaved head, one thing is certain: CM Punk is entering the most critical stretch of his return, and he’s looking for a new look to match his championship status.
