The Rock Just Got Called Out by WWE’s Newest Star—And It’s Not Who You Think

The wrestling world officially lost its collective mind on Saturday night. After weeks of cryptic crate teasers dominating WWE programming, the company finally pulled the trigger on one of the most anticipated—and bizarre—debuts in recent memory at the Elimination Chamber event in Chicago.

For those just catching up, general managers Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis gathered at the stage to unlock the mysterious crate that has been haunting RAW and SmackDown. As the doors swung open, the arena atmosphere shifted. Out came dancers in haunting black bobs and stark white face paint, setting an eerie tone before the man himself emerged: Danhausen.

The former AEW star, instantly recognizable by his cape and demonic face paint, made his way to the ring, bringing his unique brand of chaos to the WWE landscape. The reaction from the live crowd? Let’s just say it was a mixed bag—and the internet has been arguing about it ever since.

However, the headline-grabbing moment didn’t happen inside the ring. It happened the next day on social media. Danhausen took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out the biggest name in Hollywood and sports entertainment: The Rock.

In a post dripping with his signature character work, Danhausen posed a question that has everyone talking: “When does Danhausen get his all access pass to rock ‘the Dwayne’ Johnson’s gym ?”

It’s a lighthearted, quirky ask, but it lands with a thud of significance. Is he just being funny, or is this the start of a bizarre backstage relationship with The Final Boss?

The Great One’s Alleged Stamp of Approval

This isn’t just random name-dropping. Reports from last year indicated that The Rock was reportedly a “big fan” of Danhausen during his rise on the independent scene. If The Brahma Bull has pull backstage, this debut might have more legs—or curses—than fans initially thought.

That said, not everyone backstage was thrilled with the move. According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, the decision to bring Danhausen in was far from “unanimous.” Given his history in AEW from 2022 until earlier this year, and rumors that WWE tried to sign him last year only for AEW to extend his deal, his arrival in Chicago was clearly a long time coming.

Whether Danhausen is a one-off attraction or a long-term project, one thing is certain: He’s already aiming for the top, and he’s got his sights set on The Rock’s gym.
