The NXT breakout star isn’t backing down from his dream matchup, and he’s making sure everyone knows it. Oba Femi has his sights set on the biggest prize in sports entertainment, and it comes in the form of one of the most dominant forces WWE has ever produced. The former NXT champion is openly campaigning for a WrestleMania 42 showdown with Brock Lesnar, and he’s not being shy about it.
Lesnar returned to WWE programming last summer with a statement win over John Cena at Wrestlepalooza. Since then, the former UFC heavyweight champion has kept a relatively low profile, but industry insiders suggest WWE has massive plans for him at this year’s Showcase of the Immortals.
While nothing is official yet regarding a match with Femi, the rising star continues to plant seeds whenever microphones are placed in front of him.
Speaking with TV Insider, Femi didn’t hold back when discussing the possibility of sharing the ring with Lesnar.
“What a run for him. He had two separate runs, and they’ve both been fantastic. It would be really cool to face him,” Femi said.
The young superstar acknowledged what fans have been buzzing about for months.
“I know the fans have been asking for that match. It’s going to happen one day soon. What a run he has had — the UFC champion, multiple time WWE champion, Royal Rumble winner, dominance. What a way to cap it off by facing ‘The Ruler.'”
Femi also reflected on his own journey, expressing confidence in his readiness for such a high-profile encounter.
“I’m glad that everything I was able to do over at NXT happened. I was able to translate to the main roster effortlessly, seamlessly.”
All eyes will be on the March 16th edition of Monday Night Raw in San Antonio, where Lesnar is scheduled to appear. That moment could provide the clearest indication yet of what direction the veteran star is heading heading into WrestleMania season.
Whether Femi gets his wish remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—he’s making sure the WWE Universe hears his name in the same sentence as Brock Lesnar.
