“He Spun The Belt Like A Record”: Ex-WWE Announcer Claims Triple H Hated John Cena Behind The Scenes
The wrestling world knows Triple H and John Cena as two of the biggest names in WWE history. They’ve shared the ring as opponents, stood side by side as allies, and even embraced after Cena’s emotional final match last year.
But according to a bombshell revelation from a former WWE employee, The Game wasn’t always a fan of the 16-time world champion backstage.
Justin Roberts, who served as a WWE ring announcer for several years, has pulled back the curtain in his new book “Best Seat in the House.” The veteran announcer describes witnessing Triple H openly mocking Cena during the early days of his run on RAW back in 2005.
The incident allegedly took place at a house show in New Jersey, during one of Cena’s first matches after joining the red brand. Roberts writes that Triple H, along with Fit Finlay, was watching from ringside when Cena entered with his signature spinning WWE Championship belt.

According to Roberts, Triple H got out of the ring, spun the title like a record, and made a scratching noise while telling Finlay, “This guy’s s***. Get me outta here.”
Roberts didn’t stop there. In his book, he paints a picture of Triple H as someone who constantly belittled others backstage while enjoying complete protection from any consequences.
“He just always had to knock everyone and get everyone to laugh at others,” Roberts writes. “And everyone always laughed no matter how dumb his jokes were because he was the boss’ son-in-law; he was The Game.”
Despite the reported behind-the-scenes tension, Triple H and Cena would go on to have one of the most memorable rivalries of the modern era. They headlined WrestleMania 22 together, with their storyline built around their contrasting personalities and approaches to the business.
Over the years, fans saw them clash multiple times, with their final in-ring meeting taking place in April 2018 – a match Cena won.
When Cena competed in his retirement match last year at Saturday Night’s Main Event, falling to GUNTHER via submission, Triple H was there at ringside. The WWE Chief Content Officer embraced Cena after the bell rang, a moment that showed years of history between two legends – whatever may have happened early on.
