The Hardy Boyz Just Locked In a WrestleMania 42 Appearance That No One Saw Coming

Sanchez has spent over six years covering pro-wrestling’s biggest stories across WWE, NXT, AEW, and TNA. He’s sat down with stars like Swerve Strickland and Nick Aldis for exclusive interviews you won’t find anywhere else.

If you thought you’d seen the last of the Hardys on WWE programming, think again.

Matt and Jeff Hardy are officially booked for something big during WrestleMania 42 week. The current TNA World Tag Team Champions aren’t just sitting this one out. They’re heading straight to the WWE World convention, and they’ll be signing autographs on Friday, April 17.

Here’s where it gets interesting.

Matt Hardy himself shared the official announcement graphic, and eagle-eyed fans noticed something right away. WWE is advertising them as the “Hardy Boyz” again, not just “The Hardys.” That might sound like a small detail, but in wrestling, that kind of naming choice usually means something bigger is brewing.

This isn’t coming out of nowhere. Matt recently teased more crossover appearances on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, saying fans should expect some surprises when it comes to the Hardys popping up in WWE or NXT.

The last time fans saw them wrestle inside a WWE ring was at the NXT Halloween Havoc on October 25, 2025. That night didn’t go their way. They lost the NXT Tag Team Championships to DarkState’s Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin, the same team they’d originally taken the gold from just weeks earlier on the October 7 NXT Showdown special.

So far, the brothers haven’t made it to the main roster as part of this talent exchange. But Matt has already admitted on his Extreme Life podcast that both he and Jeff are hoping for one last proper run in WWE before they hang up their boots for good.

With them already confirmed for WrestleMania 42 week, it’s hard not to wonder if WWE has something minor but memorable planned for them during the April 18-19 event. Even just a quick wave from the crowd would be enough to get the internet talking.
