Shawn Michaels Begged WWE for 6 More Months With a Star They Just Snatched Away

You know that feeling when you’ve spent months building something great, only to have it taken right before the finish line? That’s exactly where Shawn Michaels finds himself right now.

The WWE Hall of Famer just admitted that he got down on his knees and pleaded with WWE to let him keep Je’Von Evans in NXT for just a little longer. Specifically, six more months. He had big plans. Like, really big plans.

Michaels sat down with Ringer Wrestling and explained that he fully intended to build the entire NXT brand around Evans for the next year. In his mind, this kid was the future of the black and gold brand. But the main roster had other ideas.

Here’s where it gets painful. Michaels already knew they were taking NXT Champion Oba Femi. That was tough enough. But then they dropped the second bombshell.

“Oh no, no, no. We’re taking him too,” Michaels recalled being told.

So he started negotiating like a man trying to save his season. First, he asked for six months. They said no. Then he asked for three months. They said no again. At that point, he just had to throw his hands up and accept it.

What makes this story worth reading isn’t just the frustration. It’s how Michaels chose to look at the bigger picture. He admitted that if your biggest problem is that the main roster keeps stealing your talent, then you’re probably doing your job right.

He even compared NXT to college sports. You don’t get to keep the star players forever. They’re meant to move on. You just have to reset, rebuild, and do it all over again.

As for Je’Von Evans? He’s not exactly doing badly for himself. The young star is now scheduled to compete in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42 night two on April 19.

So Shawn lost his star. But at least he lost him to the biggest show of the year.
