Sami Zayn Reveals The Backstage Chaos That Made WrestleMania Feel Weird
Sami Zayn is pulling back the curtain on this year’s WrestleMania, and his honest take might surprise you. After sitting out WrestleMania 41 entirely, Zayn finally made his return to the grand stage this year to face Trick Williams. But in a new interview, the former United States Champion admitted that something just felt off about the whole weekend.
According to Zayn, the “vibe” was weird for a handful of reasons—from the hotel they stayed at, to his own character feeling lost in the shuffle. He confessed that for the first time in years, he walked into Mania without a clear sense of who he even was as a performer.

“The vibe around WrestleMania was a little strange this year,” Zayn said, pointing to the last-minute addition of Pat McAfee as another curveball. He noted that his crowd reactions have become so polarizing that he’s gone from beloved to unliked, leaving his character asking, “What did I even do here?”
Despite the odd energy and the uncertainty, Zayn still called the entire chaotic experience a gift. He explained that even when things feel shaky backstage, just being in the ring and doing meet-and-greets is something he refuses to take for granted.
Fans won’t have to wait long for the rematch. Zayn and Williams are set to run it back at the Backlash premium live event on Saturday, May 9.
