WWE Could Ruin Danhausen If They Push Him Too Hard, Matt Hardy Warns

Matt Hardy is raising concerns about one of WWE’s most unique stars—and his message is clear: slow down before it’s too late.

On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the TNA veteran opened up about Danhausen’s future in WWE. While the popular star is currently a top merchandise mover and winning over crowds, Hardy warns that the company might be setting him up for a fast burnout.

According to Hardy, the real danger isn’t a lack of talent—it’s a lack of evolution. He explains that over-the-top characters like Danhausen have a much shorter shelf life than traditional wrestlers. Unless the gimmick keeps changing and growing, fans will eventually lose interest.

“You have to innovate,” Hardy said. “You have to do new things constantly. You can’t tread the same material over and over again.”

He points to his own experience with the “Broken Matt” character as proof. That persona only stayed fresh because he kept reinventing it—adding amnesia storylines, switching between heel and babyface, and introducing new versions like the “King in Gold.” Without those changes, even the hottest act can go cold.

Hardy isn’t criticizing WWE for using Danhausen. He actually respects that they’re capitalizing on his popularity. But he’s also issuing a warning: mark his words, and check back a year from now. Where Danhausen stands then will tell you everything about whether WWE played their cards right—or pushed too hard, too fast.
