WWE Hall of Famer Says the Company Is Making a Huge Mistake With Oba Femi Right Now

Let’s be real for a second. Oba Femi just walked onto the main roster, embarrassed Brock Lesnar, and pinned The Beast in under five minutes at WrestleMania 42. That should make him the most terrifying man in the company.

So why does something already feel off?

According to a WWE Hall of Famer, the promotion is fumbling one of its hottest rising stars in real time. And honestly? He might be right.

Since destroying Lesnar at the Show of Shows, Oba Femi has been doing a weekly open challenge. On paper, that sounds great. The Ruler gets to dominate someone new every Monday night. In reality, we’ve seen him squash Otis, and then most recently, he had to physically drag the Los Garza duo from the back because nobody wanted to face him.

That’s not dominance. That’s a roster running out of volunteers.

Bully Ray didn’t hold back on the Busted Open podcast. He pointed out the glaring problem that nobody backstage seems to be talking about: what is the incentive for anyone to walk out and fight a man who just retired Brock Lesnar?

Think about it. You’re a mid-card wrestler. You see Oba Femi standing in the ring—a giant who can shotput Otis like a lawn dart and hit a sit-out powerbomb that looks like a car crash. Why would you volunteer for that beating?

There is no championship on the line. No number one contender spot. No prize. Just pain.

Bully Ray put it bluntly: “He beats Brock Lesnar. Great. And then what? What are we doing the Monday night after? And the Monday night after that… you told me this list of guys, I tell you, you’re crazy.”

He also noticed that the commentary team didn’t seem invested either. Instead of selling the gravity of a dominant champion looking for challengers, they were joking around. That’s a huge red flag. When the announcers aren’t taking it seriously, why should the fans at home?

Look, watching Oba Femi destroy people is fun for about five minutes. But dominance without direction gets boring fast. He already climbed the mountain by beating Lesnar. Now he’s just standing at the top with nobody to fight and nothing to gain.

WWE has a diamond here. But if they don’t give him a real rivalry or a meaningful prize to chase, they’re going to waste the hottest monster they’ve created in years.

And that would be the real mistake.
