Former WWE Champion Reveals Why Brock Lesnar Didn’t Like Him After Their Match

Paul London has never been shy about sharing behind-the-scenes WWE stories, and his latest comments about Brock Lesnar are turning heads.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion recently looked back on his short but unforgettable encounter with “The Beast Incarnate,” admitting that Lesnar wasn’t exactly a fan of his—at least not at first.

London, remembered for his explosive high-flying style and one of the most iconic Royal Rumble eliminations ever, crossed paths with Lesnar during the latter’s dominant run as WWE Champion. At the time, Lesnar was systematically destroying members of the cruiserweight division to reinforce his monster image.

Speaking on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, London recalled how Lesnar had already laid waste to Brian Kendrick and Zack Gowen before coming after him. Kendrick, in particular, took a brutal F5 into the ring post—an image London says still amazes him to this day. Gowen’s beating, meanwhile, was even more graphic and left a lasting impression backstage.

When it was finally London’s turn, the match took place on SmackDown with Arn Anderson serving as the agent. Anderson emphasized that the goal was simple: make Brock Lesnar look unstoppable. London, never lacking creativity, suggested taking a clothesline and spinning through the air with a full 360-degree flip to make the impact look even more devastating.

That idea, however, didn’t sit well with Lesnar.

London openly admitted that Brock didn’t take a liking to him following the match, joking about Lesnar’s intimidating build and no-nonsense demeanor. Still, he was quick to clarify that there was no real heat between them.

According to London, while Lesnar wasn’t exactly the most social person backstage and often kept to himself, he was always respectful afterward. There were no lingering issues—just a classic case of a dominant champion not being thrilled with too much flair in the ring.

The story offers another fascinating glimpse into Brock Lesnar’s intense mindset during his early WWE run, and how even well-meaning creativity could rub “The Beast” the wrong way.
