WWE Legend Chris Jericho Blasts Fans: “You Have No Patience Anymore”
Chris Jericho has seen it all in the wrestling business. From his days as a lionhearted cruiserweight to becoming the first Undisputed Champion, the Canadian icon has done it all. While the debate rages on about where he might land next—with his AEW contract now expired and a WWE return rumored for months—Jericho is using his downtime to call out the very people watching him.
In a recent, candid interview, “Y2J” didn’t hold back his frustration with the modern wrestling audience, accusing them of having zero attention span and a desperate need for instant gratification.
The six-time world champion, who hasn’t stepped in the ring since last April, took specific aim at fans who complain when a storyline isn’t wrapped up in a neat little bow within a few weeks. For Jericho, the magic of wrestling lies in the long game, a philosophy he feels is lost on today’s viewers.

“I like long-term stories. My favorite ones have always been ones that last for months,” Jericho explained. He argues that the constant demand for immediate payoffs is killing the art of storytelling.
To prove his point, he brought up his legendary, year-long feud with MJF in AEW, which spanned 366 days. Instead of being celebrated for its epic scale, Jericho recalls the constant griping from fans who thought it was dragging on.
“There were people like, ‘This feud is too long.’ Why? What else do you got going on?” Jericho questioned. “They wanted it to be a one-month thing. And we were like, what do you have coming up? Nothing. So why are we ending this in a month? Let’s keep going.”
His comments shine a light on the growing divide between the wrestlers who grew up on slow-burn rivalries and a new generation of fans who consume content at lightning speed.
With his future in the wrestling world more uncertain than ever—will he return to WWE for a farewell tour, or is this the end?—Jericho is making it clear that if he does come back, he’s doing it his way, at his pace. Whether the fans like it or not.
