CM Punk doesn’t need a microphone to make a statement—and he proved it in the funniest way possible. During a WWE Road to WrestleMania live event in Fort Myers, Florida, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion took a cheeky, crowd-pleasing shot at Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, who recently blasted Punk’s in-ring look and performance.
As Punk squared off against Bronson Reed, he paused mid-match and teased the crowd by acting like he was about to remove his signature T-shirt. Fans expected the usual reveal — but Punk had other plans. When he finally lifted the shirt, it turned out he was wearing another T-shirt underneath, instantly sending the arena into laughter.
The moment wasn’t random. It was a crystal-clear response to Nash’s recent rant on the Kliq This podcast, where Big Daddy Cool questioned Punk’s credibility as champion.
Nash didn’t mince words after the December 22 episode of Monday Night Raw, criticizing Punk for wrestling in a T-shirt while holding WWE’s top title and even taking shots at his physical condition.
“If you’re the Heavyweight Champion of the WWE and you wrestle in a T-shirt? Ouch,” Nash said. “His punches looked slow. He looked slow. I think he’s done.”
Punk, however, let his actions do the talking.
Despite the criticism, “The Best in the World” went on to successfully defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Bronson Reed, proving he’s still very much in control of the spotlight.
The controversy isn’t ending anytime soon. Punk is set to defend his title again — this time against Bron Breakker — on the massive one-year anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw on Netflix, airing January 6, 2026, live from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
And yes, Nash already has an opinion.
“I think Bron Breakker should beat him,” Nash said.
