Drew McIntyre Doesn’t Hold Back: “CM Punk Is The Worst Human Being On Planet Earth”

The war of words between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk just escalated in a major way. Fresh off his intense Hell in a Cell battle with The Second City Saint, McIntyre sat down with Complex Graps and unloaded on his rival with some of the most personal criticism we’ve heard from a WWE superstar in years.

Let’s just say Drew didn’t come to play nice.

“Got to be honest. Punk is the worst human being on planet Earth. So, like, I can start with that,” McIntyre said without hesitation. “He’s a genuinely horrible, horrible person.”

The Scottish Warrior made it crystal clear that his issues with Punk run far deeper than in-ring competition. While he was willing to acknowledge Punk’s toughness, McIntyre made sure to draw a sharp distinction between respect for his opponent’s fighting spirit and any kind of personal admiration.

There’s history here that fans know well. Punk’s return to WWE at the end of 2023 wasn’t exactly met with universal backstage applause. His reputation preceded him, with many stars remembering his previous run and the tensions that came with it. But according to those close to the situation, Punk has made real efforts to change this time around.

That hasn’t softened McIntyre’s stance one bit.

When asked about their brutal Hell in a Cell encounter, McIntyre offered a revealing take on the outcome: “In the end, Punk defeated me at Hell in a Cell, not because he was a better man, because of severe blood loss. And I was breaking my back on the steps.”

The message was unmistakable. McIntyre sees himself as the better competitor who was robbed of victory by circumstances, not by Punk’s superiority.

But he didn’t stop there.

McIntyre made it clear this chapter is far from closed: “Eventually we’ll have another showdown where I take him down.”

The contrast in how he discusses Cody Rhodes versus Punk is striking. When the conversation turned to The American Nightmare, McIntyre’s tone shifted noticeably.

“For Cody, he’s a little different in the sense that I know how good he is. I know how great he is. And he could just rely on his talent, go on that.”

The Scottish star has had an eventful start to 2026 after feeling overlooked during much of last year when WWE focused heavily on John Cena’s farewell tour. Now that he’s firmly back in the spotlight, McIntyre seems determined to make his presence felt—even if that means burning bridges along the way.

With tensions this personal, it’s hard to imagine WWE keeping these two separated for long. McIntyre practically guaranteed another showdown, and if these comments are any indication, the next chapter between these two veterans could be even more explosive than the last.

For Punk, the question becomes whether he’ll respond to McIntyre’s blistering attack or let his in-ring work do the talking. Given his history, silence doesn’t seem likely.
