“She Doesn’t Get It”: Cody Rhodes Opens Up About WWE Star Who Is Clueless About Her Own Greatness
In a business where confidence is key, it’s rare to hear a top star admit that someone backstage is underestimating themselves. But during a recent chat, WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes did just that, shining a spotlight on a popular name currently on the shelf.
While speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times, “The American Nightmare” shared some heartfelt thoughts about Chelsea Green. Despite her recent historic run as the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion, Rhodes feels she is missing the bigger picture of her own impact.
Rhodes didn’t just praise her in-ring work; he painted a picture of her as a fighter. He called Green a true “survivor” in the industry, noting that she carries a certain grit that veterans immediately recognize.
“I’m very, very proud of her,” Rhodes admitted. However, he pointed out that Green operates with a mentality that suggests she is constantly fighting for her next opportunity—even though she has already cemented her place in the hearts of the fans.

“I don’t think she realizes how special she is to the fans,” he continued. “I think she still thinks the glass of water in front of her is her last, and it’s not. But the good wrestlers always think that’s the last one.”
Cody elaborated that he wishes Green could step outside of her own head for a moment and view her career from the audience’s perspective. He believes that once she recognizes just how much she has accomplished, it will unlock an entirely new level of success for her.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see that next chapter unfold. Green is currently sidelined with an injury, which recently forced a major change in the tag team division. She was replaced in a high-profile AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship match, where her partner Ethan Page ended up on the losing side against Mr. Iguana and Lola Vice.
Ever the opportunist, Green took to social media following that loss to fire off some sarcastic criticism toward the management of the WWE-owned promotion, proving that even while injured, her “survivor” spirit is very much intact.
With the Elimination Chamber event looming this Saturday in Chicago, Rhodes has his own battles to focus on—recently revealing exactly who he is most looking forward to eliminating from the upcoming match.
