“Dominik Mysterio Fires Shots at His Father Rey: ‘I’m Already Better Than Him in Every Way’—and He’s Got Receipts”

Dominik Mysterio’s rise in WWE has been nothing short of meteoric. Since capturing the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, “Dirty Dom” has successfully defended it against top-tier opponents like Finn Balor, Bron Breakker, and Penta—and most recently picked up a career-defining win over AJ Styles at SummerSlam.

As a key member of The Judgment Day, Dominik has made it his mission to cause chaos everywhere he goes. But nothing has been more personal than his bitter feud with his own father—WWE Hall of Famer and lucha libre icon Rey Mysterio.

The father-son rivalry has deep roots, going all the way back to Rey’s infamous 2005 ladder match against Eddie Guerrero for custody of young Dominik. Fast forward to today, and the younger Mysterio is making a bold claim: he’s already surpassed his legendary dad.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dominik didn’t hold back:

“I’ve only been wrestling for five years, but I’m already so much better than my dad ever was—in every way, shape, and form. I have facts to back it up. He was never in the AAA title picture… I show up in AAA for the first time, and I’m already chasing the Mega Championship.”

Dominik recently invaded AAA, attacking Dragon Lee and current Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo—sending a loud message that his ambitions extend far beyond WWE.

Of course, the numbers tell a slightly different story. Rey Mysterio’s first five years in WWE saw him rack up eight championships, including multiple tag team, cruiserweight, and even a world heavyweight title after his historic 2006 Royal Rumble victory. By comparison, Dominik—who debuted in 2020 against Seth Rollins—has collected the Intercontinental Championship, two NXT North American title reigns, and one tag team title run with his father.

Still, “Dirty Dom” insists the future is his. Whether his claims are pure confidence or a little too much ego, one thing is certain: the Mysterio family drama isn’t over—and the next chapter could be their most explosive yet.
