WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre Lands Dream Role in Scotland With Henry Cavill in Highlander Reboot
WWE’s very own Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre, is heading back home—this time not for a wrestling match, but for Hollywood magic. The two-time WWE Champion from Ayr has officially joined the star-studded cast of the Highlander remake, and fans are buzzing.
Standing tall at 6ft 5in, McIntyre will play the brother of the film’s main character Connor MacLeod, portrayed by none other than Superman himself, Henry Cavill. The reboot promises to breathe new life into the cult 1980s classic, which originally featured Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery.
And it gets even bigger—McIntyre won’t be the only wrestler-turned-actor in the film. His mentor and Marvel star Dave Bautista is on board too, taking on the iconic role of Kurgan, the immortal villain.

The 40-year-old powerhouse, whose real name is Andrew Galloway, began his WWE journey in 2007 before conquering Hollywood with his 2024 film debut in The Killer’s Game. But for McIntyre, nothing compares to filming back in Scotland.
“It’s a great story, I’m working with a talented cast, and I get to film in Scotland. There is nothing about this role that isn’t perfect,” he told the Sunday Mail.
Though he’s now a US citizen, McIntyre admits he’s never stopped missing Scotland. Proud of his heritage, he never misses a chance to share his love for his homeland with the world.
The reboot will also feature Inverness-born Doctor Who star Karen Gillan as Heather, the wife of Cavill’s character, adding even more Scottish star power to the lineup.
With a blend of WWE toughness, Marvel muscle, and Hollywood talent, the new Highlander is shaping up to be one of the most epic remakes in years. And for Drew McIntyre, it’s more than a movie—it’s a homecoming.
