Drew McIntyre Just Broke His Silence on the Randy Orton Attack—And His Reason Is Vintage Drew
The Viper got bitten when he least expected it. During the main event of Friday Night SmackDown, the wrestling world watched Randy Orton do what Randy Orton does best: dominate. He was moments away from sealing a victory against Aleister Black when the arena erupted for a reason that had nothing to do with the two men in the ring.
The Undisputed WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, slid into the picture.
With a perfectly timed swing of his championship gold, McIntyre leveled Orton, allowing Black to land the Black Mass and steal the win. The crowd was stunned. Social media went into a meltdown. And fans were left with one burning question: Why?
On paper, McIntyre and Orton have a laundry list of reasons to hate each other. They’ve bled over the WWE Championship. They’ve main-evented pay-per-views. But in recent weeks, McIntyre’s radar has been locked on Cody Rhodes and the looming threat of Jacob Fatu. Orton seemed like an afterthought.
That’s why when actor and superfan O’Shea Jackson Jr. took to Twitter to ask the million-dollar question—“Why?”—the response from McIntyre was so perfectly, unapologetically Drew.
McIntyre didn’t cut a five-minute promo. He didn’t lay out a detailed manifesto of revenge. Instead, he replied with a clip from the British cult-classic comedy The Inbetweeners. In the scene, the crude and chaotic Jay Cartwright is asked why he did something reckless. His response?

A simple, smug shrug: ” Funny.”
And honestly? That might be the most dangerous answer of all.
In a world of convoluted storylines and monologues about legacy and respect, McIntyre just admitted he did it because he felt like it. Because the chaos amused him. Because the apex predator of WWE decided to remind Randy Orton that you can’t keep one eye on the future without watching your back.
It’s a chilling twist for Orton, who now has to head into the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match on February 28 with McIntyre living rent-free in his head.
Orton will step into the chamber in Chicago alongside Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams. The final spot in the match is still up for grabs, set to be decided this Monday on Raw when “The Original” El Grande Americano, Jey Uso, and Bronson Reed collide in a triple-threat war.
But no matter who fills that last spot, the biggest threat to Orton might not even be locked inside the steel with him. It might be the guy standing outside, holding a title belt, laughing to himself because he just finds the whole thing… funny.
And for Randy Orton, that’s no joke.
