Drew McIntyre Wants to Set Someone on Fire—And WWE 2K26 Is Making It Possible
Drew McIntyre is sitting on top of the WWE world right now as the Undisputed WWE Champion, but his mind isn’t just on defending that title. It’s also on video games. And trash cans. And fire.
In a recent interview during the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest, McIntyre opened up about the new features in the upcoming game. While most champions might talk about legacy or dream matches, the Scottish Warrior had a very specific vision for his virtual counterpart—and it involves CM Punk taking out the trash.
Literally.
When asked about the game’s new match types, McIntyre lit up at the mention of the Dumpster Match. His response? Pure gold.
“Maybe throw Punk into the trash where he belongs,” McIntyre said with a laugh that suggested he wasn’t entirely joking.
But here’s where things get interesting. When the interviewer dropped the news that 2K26 would also feature the return of the Inferno Match, McIntyre’s reaction was priceless. He hadn’t even known it was in the game, but you could almost see the wheels turning in his head.

“Inferno Match is there!? You just set the dude on fire. That’s awesome,” he said.
Suddenly, throwing someone in a dumpster seems almost tame by comparison.
McIntyre also took a moment to appreciate the little things—like how much better his character model looks this year. Apparently, 2K26’s version of Drew is more tanned and jacked than last year’s model. Consider that a warning to anyone planning to step into the virtual ring with him.
So What Does This Mean for WrestleMania?
While McIntyre is busy planning virtual arson, his real-life path to WrestleMania 42 just got a whole lot more complicated.
At Elimination Chamber, everything seemed set. Randy Orton punched his ticket to face McIntyre for the title at The Show of Shows. Clean. Simple. Then Drew had to get involved.
The champion cost Cody Rhodes his shot at winning the Chamber match, apparently securing his own path to Orton. But WWE General Manager Nick Aldis had other plans. Now McIntyre has to defend his championship against Rhodes on the upcoming SmackDown.
Suddenly, that WrestleMania main event isn’t so certain.
Will Orton still get his shot? Will Rhodes walk out of SmackDown with the gold? Or is WWE setting up something bigger—maybe a triple threat that nobody saw coming?
One thing’s for sure: whether it’s in the ring or in the video game, Drew McIntyre is ready to make things physical. Just keep him away from matches and lighters.
