Finn Bálor’s Belfast Homecoming Gets Personal as WWE Confirms Massive RAW Title Match

WWE’s return to Ireland is shaping up to be far more than just another stop on the RAW tour — especially for Finn Bálor. Fresh off his in-ring return on Monday Night RAW, Bálor has officially accepted CM Punk’s challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship. While there were initial doubts about Judgment Day involvement and potential chaos, WWE has now locked in the bout for RAW at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Ireland — the city where “The Prince” was born.

For Bálor, this isn’t just a title defense. It’s a deeply personal moment years in the making.

Finn Bálor shares emotional reason behind Belfast title match

Despite his ruthless, calculating persona on television, Bálor showed a softer side ahead of the huge championship clash. Taking to social media, the Judgment Day member shared a photo with his 94-year-old grandmother, revealing that she taught him about his family roots and Irish heritage.

Bálor made it clear that his World Heavyweight Championship match on RAW will be dedicated to her — and to Ireland itself.

“Learning about life & the history of our island from my 94-year-old grandmother. Tomorrow is for her, and for all of us,” Bálor wrote.

The message immediately struck a chord with fans, adding even more emotion to what is already one of the most anticipated RAW main events of the year.

WWE RAW Belfast card begins to take shape

The January 19, 2026, edition of RAW is already stacked, with two championship matches confirmed. Alongside Bálor vs. CM Punk, Becky Lynch will defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Maxxine Dupri, giving Irish fans two hometown stars competing for gold.

RAW General Manager Adam Pearce also revealed additional matches for the show, including Gunther opening the night, Je’Von Evans facing El Grande Americano, and a high-profile six-man tag featuring Rey Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee against Austin Theory, Logan Paul, and Bronson Reed, accompanied by Paul Heyman.

With major titles on the line and emotions running high, RAW’s Belfast edition is shaping up to be one of WWE’s most memorable international shows in years — and all eyes will be on whether Finn Bálor can walk out of his hometown still World Heavyweight Champion.
