Shock Update on Hardy Boyz WWE Comeback—What’s Really Stopping the Return?

Fresh details have surfaced about whether Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy—famously known as the Hardy Boyz—could make one final run in WWE.

The legendary tag team is currently dominating in TNA as World Tag Team Champions after previously exiting AEW. Since then, speculation has been nonstop about a possible full-time return to WWE — or even a special crossover appearance through the ongoing partnership between the two promotions.

While the duo did appear briefly in NXT last year—even capturing the NXT Tag Team Titles for a short period—they have not appeared on WWE’s main roster. Their only recent presence was being spotted backstage during WWE SummerSlam.

Many fans expected a surprise appearance at the January 31 edition of the Royal Rumble—a show famous for shocking returns—but the Hardys were nowhere to be seen.

Speaking during an interview with 1Wrestling, Matt Hardy hinted that location may have played a role in why talks didn’t progress further.

According to Matt, discussions about appearing at the Royal Rumble might have been stronger if the event hadn’t been held in Saudi Arabia.

The interview transcription was originally published by WrestleTalk.com.

During the same conversation, Matt also praised former WWE star Mustafa Ali, who has rebuilt momentum in TNA since his 2023 WWE exit.

Matt said Ali is currently performing at the highest level of his career, delivering elite-quality matches consistently. He even predicted that Ali has all the tools needed to become a future TNA World Champion.
