🔥 “JBL DROPS BOMBSHELL: Montreal Screwjob Wasn’t A Big Deal?! Inside the Real Locker Room Reaction!” 🔥

WWE legend JBL just gave a shocking take on one of the most infamous events in wrestling history — the 1997 Montreal Screwjob. While fans and wrestling historians still debate Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels to this day, JBL says most of the WWE locker room simply didn’t care.

Speaking on Something To Wrestle With, JBL opened up about the chaotic aftermath of that night — and why, to most wrestlers, it wasn’t the earth-shattering moment everyone thinks it was.

💬 JBL On Vince McMahon’s Meeting After The Screwjob

According to JBL, Vince McMahon faced the roster the next night at Raw in Ottawa — with a black eye and all. But contrary to popular belief, the locker room wasn’t in an uproar.

“Conrad, it wasn’t that big a deal with the boys,” JBL said. “I mean, it was a fight between two megastars — Shawn and Bret. It didn’t involve most of us. I just wanted to keep my job and pay my bills back in Texas.”

He added that while some wrestlers debated what to do, most were focused on their own careers. “It didn’t affect me or most of the locker room,” JBL said. “We just wanted to work.”

JBL Regrets Missing The Screwjob

JBL revealed that he wasn’t even there when it all went down — and he still regrets it.

“Oh, God Almighty, one of the biggest regrets of my life,” he admitted. “Barry Windham and I were heading to Japan for a WWE partnership deal. We left right when the match started — if I had stayed another hour, I would’ve seen history unfold.”

The trip turned out to be a turning point in JBL’s own career. “After the Screwjob, they offered me a contract I didn’t expect,” he said.

👀 What JBL Saw Before Leaving

Before leaving the arena, JBL noticed referee Dave Hebner acting suspiciously.

“Dave came back and started grabbing bags. I asked, ‘Something going on?’ He said, ‘No, just loading the car.’”

What JBL didn’t know was that Gerald Brisco had just told Earl Hebner about the plan — and they were getting ready to flee for safety after the match.

🤫 “Nobody Knew Anything”

Even with whispers of tension, JBL insists that no one in the locker room suspected a screwjob was coming.

“There was no talk of anything crazy happening,” he said. “No talk of a screwjob, no nothing. Everyone was clueless.”

⚡ The Bottom Line

While fans still treat the Montreal Screwjob as a defining WWE moment, JBL says the wrestlers saw it as “just another day on the job.”
For him, it was simple: stay employed, stay paid, and stay out of Bret and Shawn’s war.
