LA Knight’s WrestleMania Moment Is in Jeopardy—And It’s Out of His Hands

The road to WrestleMania 42 is rarely a straight line, but for LA Knight, the path might have just hit a major speed bump.

For weeks, Knight has been the third man in The Usos’ war against The Vision, playing the role of the equalizer every time Logan Paul tried to cheat. It seemed like a surefire way to get the megastar on the biggest card of the year. But after a chaotic few weeks on Monday Night Raw, his spot isn’t as locked in as everyone thought.

The trouble started on the March 23 episode of Raw. During The Usos’ tag title defense against The Vision, LA Knight did his job—snatching Logan Paul’s infamous brass knuckles and tossing them to Jey Uso. The only problem? Jey used them right in front of the ref, causing a disqualification. The titles stayed put.

The rematch at Madison Square Garden on March 30 was even messier. In a Street Fight, Knight once again came to the rescue to counter Paul’s antics. But in the chaos, IShowSpeed picked up the brass knuckles and accidentally clocked Knight, knocking him out cold. That opening was all Austin Theory and Paul needed to pin The Usos and walk out as the new World Tag Team Champions.

Now, WWE appears to be building toward a trios match at WrestleMania 42, pitting The Usos and LA Knight against The Vision and IShowSpeed.

But here is where the megastar’s plans get shaky.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the entire concept hinges on whether Speed is ready to compete on wrestling’s grandest stage. While Speed did step into the Royal Rumble last year as an emergency replacement, there is no guarantee he will lace up his boots for a full-scale match at WrestleMania.

If Speed isn’t cleared or willing to wrestle, the creative direction changes completely. Meltzer noted that if the YouTube sensation isn’t ready, Knight could be relegated to a ringside role, watching from the outside while The Usos handle the business in a standard tag match.

After spending months getting the crowd to “yeah” with him, LA Knight’s WrestleMania fate now rests on the decision of a man who has only wrestled once before in WWE. It is a strange place for one of the hottest acts in the company to be—waiting for a call that isn’t his to make.
