MVP Opens Up About Valuable Life Lessons From WWE Legend Randy Savage

Former WWE star MVP recently took fans down memory lane as he shared an unforgettable moment from his early days in wrestling — receiving personal advice from the one and only “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

During the Ruthless Aggression Era, MVP was one of WWE’s brightest rising stars. After debuting in 2006, he quickly established himself as a strong mid-card performer, capturing championships and becoming a familiar face on WWE television. But before that success came a crucial year in Deep South Wrestling, WWE’s developmental territory at the time — where he honed his craft and prepared for the big leagues.

On a recent episode of his Marking Out podcast, MVP recalled a life-changing phone call he once received from the late WWE Hall of Famer Randy Savage.

“He said two things, over and over — ‘Don’t trust anybody, because everyone’s trying to take your spot. And save your money. Save your money, kid. You can live and have a good life, but save your money,’” MVP shared.

Savage’s words stuck with him through the years. MVP continued,

“I couldn’t believe it. He actually called to congratulate me for getting signed — then took the time to warn me about the business, about protecting your spot, and being smart with money. I’ll never forget that conversation for as long as I live.”

After returning to WWE in 2020 as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble, MVP transitioned into a managerial role, guiding top stars like Bobby Lashley to championship success. In 2024, he wrapped up his WWE run and made the move to AEW, where he continues to work primarily as a manager.

Even years later, MVP carries those words from Randy Savage close to his heart — a timeless reminder from one legend to another about survival, loyalty, and longevity in the wrestling business.
