“I Would’ve Lost It”: Randy Orton Reveals His Honest Reaction to Tom Brady’s “Cute” WWE Dig
There was a time when “The Viper” would have immediately struck back. Randy Orton, a man known for his cold-blooded demeanor in the ring, recently opened up about Tom Brady’s jab at WWE, and his response might surprise you.
Earlier this month, the NFL legend appeared on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast. During a heated exchange, Brady attempted to belittle Paul’s wrestling career by calling his work in the squared circle “cute.” The comment instantly sent ripples through the wrestling world, but when Orton heard about it, he didn’t see red—he just laughed.
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, the future Hall of Famer admitted that the timing of the comment is everything. A younger, more hot-headed Randy would have handled the situation very differently.
“Ten, fifteen, twenty years ago I would have been hot,” Orton confessed. “I would have had choice words to say for Tom Brady.”
But today, the 14-time world champion views the world through a different lens. Coming back from career-threatening back injuries, including a double spinal fusion, Orton says he’s just grateful to be performing at all.
Rather than firing back, Orton found the whole situation amusing. “It tickles me,” he said, noting that he often sees fans getting worked up on his behalf online. “People get so freaking upset and it’s like, we were just having fun.”
Of course, Orton couldn’t resist leaving the door open for a physical retort, just in case Brady wants to settle the score in the ring. “If you want to take an RKO… Pat will call me,” he joked.
Staying Power

During the interview, Orton also reflected on how he has managed to stay on top of the card for over two decades. While he credits his current longevity to taking care of his body, he jokingly admitted that wasn’t always the case.
“Early on in my career I was horrible to my body. I was doing all sorts of s**t I shouldn’t have been doing,” he revealed. “I had a reality check and turned things around.”
Now, every move in the ring has a purpose. “I’m not just throwing myself around,” he said, crediting that mindset for keeping him relevant while younger stars try to find their footing.
The American Nightmare Gets His Flowers
In other WWE news, the city of Louisville, Kentucky, rolled out the red carpet for Cody Rhodes this week. On Thursday, just ahead of Friday’s SmackDown, Mayor Craig Greenberg surprised “The American Nightmare” with an official proclamation, declaring it “Cody Rhodes Day.”
Rhodes was at the KFC Yum! Center for a meet-and-greet when the Mayor interrupted to present the honor. “Today is a big day in our city, Cody, to have you here with us,” Greenberg said to the crowd. “Today, throughout the entire city of Louisville, it’s officially Cody Rhodes Day!”
