WWE Star Je’Von Evans Just Revealed What Randy Orton Is Really Like Backstage Before WrestleMania
Je’Von Evans is climbing the WWE ladder faster than anyone expected. Along the way, the young Raw star has found himself face-to-face with two of the biggest legends in wrestling history.
First, he stepped into the ring with Randy Orton on NXT inside Orton’s own backyard of St. Louis. Then, just over a year later, he was working the same night as John Cena’s final match.
Evans recently opened up on The Bootleg Kev Podcast about what he learned from both icons. And his update on Orton’s current state of mind is bound to turn heads.
On Wrestling Randy Orton in NXT

“Bro, it was wild. I feel like it was a very big test for me. That was my first major test going into NXT. At the time, I had been there maybe almost a year or close to it, and they gave me the chance to go against Randy Orton in his hometown. That is insane,” Evans said.
He continued, “An OG like him isn’t pulling up to NXT just to wrestle anybody. So it was an honor. I’m so blessed to have that opportunity and so grateful I got to learn under Randy. Ever since then, we’ve had a connection. But I haven’t talked to him since Smackdown. He has been kind of by himself. He has been a little distant. He is tweaking out. I am letting him get all his anger out. He is just a lot different for Mania. It is just a phase.”
On Getting Advice from John Cena on His Final Night
Evans also shared a quiet moment with John Cena that almost went unnoticed.
“Honestly, when I walked into the arena, I put my stuff down in the locker room and was just walking around. Cena was getting a haircut,” Evans recalled. “I said, ‘What’s up, OG?’ And he said, ‘Hey, Je’Von.’ Then he gave me some notes and pointers. He told me, ‘Just remember that and keep on doing you.’ I said, ‘All right, bet.’ It was so cool to be a part of such a monumental night for Cena.”
