“The Right Moment Hasn’t Come Yet” – Rey Fenix Opens Up About Long-Awaited WWE Reunion With Brother Penta

Rey Fenix understands why fans are eager to see him and his brother Penta reunite in WWE. He just asks for a little more patience.

The Lucha Brothers originally planned to arrive in WWE together as a tag team, but circumstances forced them to take separate paths. After AEW added injury time to their contracts, Penta made his way to WWE first, followed later by Fenix. A full year has passed since both brothers landed in the company, yet they’ve been kept apart on different brands—Penta on Raw as the current Intercontinental Champion, and Fenix making his mark on SmackDown.

Fans thought they’d finally get their reunion at a AAA event in late 2025 when the brothers were scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano. Those plans fell through when Penta suffered an injury, leading Fenix to team with Rey Mysterio instead.

In a recent interview with RRBG Inc, Fenix addressed the prolonged separation with a surprisingly positive outlook.

“I see it this way. It’s not bad,” Fenix explained. “Obviously I miss fighting with my brother, but it’s a good opportunity to show who we are individually.”

Fenix pointed to his recent matches against Je’Von Evans, Sami Zayn, and his time working with Rey Mysterio at AAA events as proof that this solo run has value.

“I think it’s a good opportunity for us as wrestlers and for the public to see something different,” he said.

While acknowledging the fan demand for a Lucha Brothers reunion, Fenix emphasized that the timing needs to be right.

“Something that wrestling has taught me is patience,” Fenix shared. “It’s going to be the right moment that the Lucha Brothers deserve. It’s not that we don’t deserve it and you don’t deserve to see the Lucha Brothers today, but I know that when the moment gets there is the right moment.”

Fenix expressed complete faith in WWE’s long-term planning, noting the company’s decades of experience in wrestling entertainment.

“Let’s not forget that it’s a company that has been stable for many years, that has handled wrestling and entertainment in the best way,” he said. “It’s the best company and the number one in the world, so I think we need to trust in what we’re doing, and enjoy what we’re doing today.”

For now, Fenix encourages fans to enjoy the individual journeys while trusting that the reunion will happen when it matters most.

“As humans, we want things to happen as fast as possible, but it’s going to be in the right moment, when it’s the right moment, and we’re going to take advantage of it and enjoy it in the best way.”
