Seth Rollins isn’t backing down — and he’s not accepting history being rewritten. Despite being stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship earlier this year, The Visionary has made it crystal clear: in his mind, he is still the rightful champion, and anyone carrying his title is living on borrowed time.
Rollins recaptured the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2025, proving once again why he’s one of WWE’s most reliable big-match performers. But his reign came to a heartbreaking halt in October after suffering a serious shoulder injury at Crown Jewel, forcing WWE officials to strip him of the title while he recovered.
As if losing the championship wasn’t painful enough, fate added insult to injury — the gold Rollins never lost in the ring is now around the waist of his longtime rival, CM Punk.
And Seth Rollins? He’s furious.
Speaking with ClutchPoints, Rollins didn’t mince words while laying out his mindset heading into his eventual return.
“I was stripped of that championship, and anybody who is in possession of that title — be it CM Punk, be it Bron Breakker, anybody who stands in my way — they will be dealt with,” Rollins said.
But Rollins revealed that his first target won’t be a person at all.
“The primary target in my return will actually not be a person… it’ll be a thing. And that would be the World Heavyweight Championship. I never lost the title, so I am rightfully the World Heavyweight Champion.”
It’s a familiar — and painful — story for Rollins. This isn’t the first time injury has robbed him of championship glory. Back in 2015, his first WWE World Championship reign also ended without him being pinned, making this latest setback feel like cruel déjà vu.
Adding to the irony, Rollins’ wife Becky Lynch is fighting a similar battle of her own. The Man has publicly claimed she is the rightful Women’s Intercontinental Champion, believing her title loss didn’t truly settle the score.
As for Rollins, the road ahead is uncertain. He’s expected to miss six months while recovering, putting his status for WrestleMania 42 in serious doubt. Reports previously indicated that Rollins was set to face Roman Reigns in their first singles match since 2022 — a blockbuster showdown that now hangs in the balance.
One thing is certain: when Seth Rollins finally returns, he won’t be chasing validation — he’ll be hunting his championship.
