Shawn Michaels Finally Reveals If He’ll Ever Enter The Royal Rumble Again—And The Match He Swears Was His REAL Last

Shawn Michaels is one of WWE’s most beloved icons, but even legends get asked the same question over and over: “Will you wrestle again?”

The Heartbreak Kid officially retired in 2010 after his unforgettable WrestleMania 26 clash with The Undertaker. Fans still talk about it as one of the greatest “last matches” of all time. But in 2018, HBK briefly dusted off the boots for a controversial Saudi Arabia tag team match alongside Triple H against The Brothers of Destruction—a bout that even he admits didn’t feel like a true comeback.

Now, Michaels is setting the record straight.

In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, the WWE Hall of Famer made it crystal clear: the match with The Undertaker is the one he counts as his true farewell.

“It’s that one with Undertaker [at WrestleMania 26],” Michaels explained. “The 2018 tag match? That was just me hanging out with my buddies. It didn’t feel like HBK. That wasn’t the showstopper. My career ended with Taker.”

When pressed about a surprise Royal Rumble return, Michaels shut down the idea before fans could even get their hopes up.

“Oh, heavens no!” he laughed. “I was just using that as an example. I don’t consider those appearances as me really wrestling. That guy—HBK, Mr. WrestleMania—he’s done.”

While his in-ring days are officially behind him, Michaels’ fingerprints are still all over WWE. As Senior VP of Talent Development Creative, he’s been shaping the future of NXT and helping the next generation of superstars build their own legacies.

So, while we won’t see HBK making a shocking Royal Rumble return anytime soon, his influence on the wrestling world is far from over.
