Sting Reveals the One Moment From His Retirement Match That Surpassed 40 Years of Wrestling Glory
Sting, one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling, has officially closed the curtain on his legendary career—but he says one unforgettable moment from his farewell match was greater than anything else he’s accomplished in 40 years.
The wrestling icon, who debuted in 1985 and went on to become a multi-time World Champion across every major U.S. promotion, wrestled his final bout at AEW Revolution 2024. Teaming with Darby Allin against The Young Bucks, Sting’s farewell wasn’t just another main event—it became a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of his career. Wrestling legends like Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat appeared, but what truly stole the show were Sting’s own sons, Garrett and Steven Jr., stepping into the spotlight.
In an interview with The Wrestling Classic at WrestleVerse Fest, Sting reflected on what it meant to see his sons painted up in his signature look:

“It was exactly as I envisioned it being. It was like a dream, a surreal kind of situation to actually witness it, even though I had pictured it happening exactly the way it did. But an amazing night. It’s just going to be etched in my mind forever. It’s probably the highlight of 40 years for me.”
That’s right—after decades of title wins, historic feuds, and unforgettable entrances, Sting admits nothing topped seeing his kids pay tribute to his legacy in front of the world.
What’s Next for Sting and His Family?
While neither of Sting’s sons have fully broken into wrestling yet, Steven Jr. has been spotted training with big names like Darby Allin, FTR, and Adam Copeland. It remains to be seen if the “Stinger legacy” will continue in the ring.
Meanwhile, Sting is wrapping up his legendary persona for good. Earlier this year, he announced his “Now or Never” farewell tour, confirming that 2025 will be the last time fans ever see him in the signature face paint. His final scheduled appearance is set for December 20th at WrestleVerse Fest in Pittsburgh, PA.
The man who built his career on mystery and face paint is finally saying goodbye—but thanks to AEW Revolution, Sting left on a high note that even he calls the pinnacle of his entire career.
