Now, with WrestleMania 42 looming over Las Vegas, the biggest question on everyone’s mind isn’t if Gunther will have a marquee spot, but who will be brave—or foolish—enough to accept the challenge.
While WWE officials are keeping their cards close to their chest, insider reports suggest the creative team is currently weighing three very different, yet equally explosive, options for the former Intercontinental and World Heavyweight Champion.
According to industry insiders, the current shortlist for Gunther’s dance partner in Vegas reads like a fantasy booking dream. The first possibility pits the Austrian powerhouse against the ultimate underdog, Rey Mysterio. Given the ongoing tensions with Dragon Lee and the LWO, stepping into the ring with the master of the 619 would be a clash of generations that writes itself.
However, if WWE wants to build for the future, the answer might be Oba Femi. The former NXT Champion has been on an absolute tear, and the idea of a collision between two unstoppable forces of nature is the kind of “hoss fight” that makes the WWE Universe salivate.
But then, there is the wildcard. The name that changes everything: Brock Lesnar.
