WWE Legend Drops Harsh Truth: What Today’s Superstars Don’t Have Anymore, According to The Undertaker
The wrestling world still pays close attention whenever The Undertaker speaks—and his latest comments about modern wrestling are already stirring debate among fans and insiders.
Even after retiring from in-ring competition, the legendary former champion remains closely connected to WWE. His backstage influence is widely respected, and many believe company leadership still values his perspective on the business.
The Deadman, who closed his career in 2020 against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36, continues to speak openly about the evolution of professional wrestling—and he doesn’t always like what he sees.
The icon, whose legacy continues to reach new audiences through WWE’s content partnerships including Netflix, believes today’s wrestlers are missing a key ingredient that older generations were forced to develop.
“They Need That Edge”
Speaking on his podcast, Undertaker reflected on the harsh training culture that once defined wrestling. He pointed to figures like Bill DeMott and Al Snow, explaining that older systems were built to test mental and physical toughness.

According to him, the goal wasn’t just training — it was survival.
He suggested modern performers may benefit from experiencing more real struggle, though he clarified he’s not advocating for the extreme conditions wrestlers once endured. Instead, he believes adversity helped create the hunger and mental edge that separated legends from the rest.
Undertaker’s Personal Struggle Shaped His Career
The Hall of Famer shared how difficult his own journey was. When he chose wrestling over school, he faced criticism and little support. He described sleeping in his car, hustling through club jobs, and losing money just to stay on the path toward becoming a professional wrestler.
That struggle, he says, built the mindset that carried him through decades at the top of the industry.
Debate Around Modern Wrestling Isn’t New
This isn’t the first time Undertaker has questioned the current generation. His latest comments are likely to spark strong reactions — especially from younger stars who believe today’s wrestling demands a different kind of toughness.
But one thing is clear: when Undertaker talks, the wrestling world still listens.
