WWE Shocker: John Cena’s Final Opponent Could Be the “Next Tribal Chief” – Here’s Why Jey Uso Might Retire Him
John Cena’s farewell tour is winding down, and WWE fans can’t stop speculating about who will get the honor of being his last-ever opponent. With only five matches left before the 17-time World Champion hangs up his boots, the possibilities are endless – from a blockbuster clash with Brock Lesnar to a passing-of-the-torch moment with a rising star.
But one WWE personality just dropped a wild prediction that has fans buzzing: Jey Uso could be the one to send Cena into retirement.
On the NotSam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts revealed that WWE correspondent Megan Morant pitched the idea of Jey Uso as Cena’s final opponent — and it surprisingly makes a lot of sense.

“Megan Morant has proposed something that I find very, very interesting. She’s proposed that it is none other than Main Event Jey Uso that gets this opportunity,” Roberts explained. “There’s a symmetry to it. John Cena’s first match of his final year was at the Royal Rumble — and who eliminated him in the last spot? Jey Uso.”
That Royal Rumble elimination didn’t just end Cena’s run — it sparked his heel turn, one of the most shocking swerves of 2025. Roberts argued that Cena vs. Jey would be more than just a send-off; it could crown Jey Uso as the heir to the Tribal Chief throne.
“It creates a scenario for Jey Uso to take those steps forward if being the next Tribal Chief is what he wants to do. Especially after Roman looked him in the eye on Raw and said, ‘This is all yours. F them all,’” Roberts added.
When Will John Cena Wrestle His Final Match?
WWE has officially locked in the date: December 13, 2025. Cena’s farewell match will headline Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. — a historic stage for the end of an era.
Before then, Cena will lace up his boots for one last showdown at Crown Jewel against AJ Styles. But all eyes are now on the big question: Will Jey Uso step up as the man to end Cena’s legendary career… and claim the path to becoming the next Tribal Chief?
