Triple H Finally Breaks Silence on Cody Rhodes Smashing His Throne – And His Response Will Shock You

For years, wrestling fans have argued about one burning question: Did Cody Rhodes actually make an enemy by destroying a replica of Triple H’s iconic throne back in AEW?

It was the shot heard around the wrestling world. Back at AEW Double or Nothing 2019, Cody took a sledgehammer to a throne that looked exactly like The Game’s. Everyone assumed there had to be bad blood. How could there not be?

Well, Triple H just sat down with Cody on his podcast, “What Do You Wanna Talk About?”, and completely flipped that story on its head.

Cody admitted he was always curious why Hunter never confronted him after he returned to WWE. “You never once asked me about clearly taking your throne,” Cody said.

Hunter’s reply? He basically laughed it off.

“I saw it as your hammer because it was smaller than mine,” Triple H said with a shrug. He went on to say that he never felt any real malice. In fact, he respects the move. “That’s the kind of stuff you do. You try to make a name for yourself. Try to do some cool stuff.”

But here is the most human part of the whole conversation. Triple H admitted that when Cody left WWE, it was actually difficult for him personally.

“I was so close to your dad (Dusty Rhodes),” Hunter explained. He revealed that he secretly wanted Cody to succeed so badly that he told him to get out there and make himself desirable. “We’ll come chasing after you and bring you back.”

And guess what? That is exactly what happened.

Cody revealed that the first text message he got after winning the Ring of Honor title wasn’t from a random friend—it was from Triple H, congratulating him while Cody was walking to the hospital.

Hunter summed it up perfectly: “F— yeah. Come on, Cody. Get yourself in that spot where we’re like, ‘Hey, we should go get him.’”

So, was there ever a war between these two? Apparently not. Just two pros who understood the game better than anyone else.
