Vince Russo Blasts WWE For “Killing” Drew McIntyre’s Push: “He Should Just Collect a Paycheck”

Drew McIntyre’s WWE run has once again come under fire—this time from Vince Russo, who claims the Scottish Warrior’s push has been “beaten to death” by WWE’s questionable booking.

At WWE Wrestlepalooza, fans were left scratching their heads when Cody Rhodes pinned McIntyre clean to retain the WWE Undisputed Championship. While Rhodes got his moment, many wondered what was left for McIntyre—who has been stuck in start-and-stop storylines for years.

Vince Russo Doesn’t Hold Back

On his latest YouTube video, Vince Russo went off on WWE’s creative decisions:

“Cody Rhodes pins Drew McIntyre clean. Great for Cody—but what does that do for McIntyre? When you beat guys like Drew clean, it doesn’t just do nothing—it sets them back. You’ve got to start all over again.”

Russo argued that McIntyre, much like John Cena in the past, is being sacrificed without any payoff:

“If there’s anybody on that roster who should just be collecting a check at this point, it’s Drew McIntyre. They’ve beaten this guy to death, over and over.”

He even questioned if McIntyre’s recent losses were some sort of “punishment” related to past backstage drama.

WWE’s Billion-Dollar Problem

Russo and Stevie Richards also pointed out the massive disconnect between WWE’s record-breaking profits and how the talent is treated.

“They’re making billions in TV and streaming deals, sponsors throwing money at every show—and yet talent like Drew McIntyre are left frustrated. How do you expect them not to notice?” Russo said.

Richards doubled down, saying WWE keeps bragging about gates and sponsorships while wrestlers see little benefit:

“Every time WWE hits a huge gate, Hunter gets on TV talking about the money made. Meanwhile, the talent feels underpaid and overlooked.”

What’s Next For Drew?

With Cody Rhodes rumored to face Jey Uso next, McIntyre has once again been left stranded in “no man’s land.” Despite being a fan favorite and a proven main-eventer, WWE’s handling of McIntyre has many wondering if the company has completely given up on him.

Russo summed it up bluntly:

“They don’t give a s*** about even attempting to protect their talent.”
