WWE 2K26 Teaser Sparks Buzz After Fans Spot Possible Randy Orton Mistake

WWE has officially begun the hype cycle for WWE 2K26, but its latest teaser may have accidentally stolen the spotlight for the wrong reason—and fans were quick to notice.

After delivering one of its most well-received games in years with WWE 2K25, the company is once again teasing the next installment. Earlier hints pointed toward Attitude Era and Monday Night Wars–inspired content, raising expectations across the WWE Games community. Now, a newly released teaser has added even more intrigue—along with a potential blunder involving Randy Orton.

The short clip opens with the sound of shattering glass before flashing a rapid series of visual clues. Sharp-eyed fans immediately began dissecting every frame, with many believing they spotted hints pointing to Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder), Blake Monroe, Mr. Iguana, Victoria, and other possible roster or legend additions. A stack of DVDs also fueled speculation that CM Punk could be getting a dedicated Showcase Mode in this year’s game.

But one detail quickly overshadowed the rest.

Among the DVD titles shown was a reference to the classic “I Quit” match between John Cena and Randy Orton at Breaking Point. While the match itself is very real and memorable, fans noticed Orton’s name appeared to be misspelled as “Randy Ortan.” The error instantly set social media buzzing, with many wondering whether it was a simple oversight or an intentional red herring designed to spark conversation.

The inclusion of that specific match has also reignited speculation about the possible return of the “I Quit” match type to the game—something longtime players have been asking for. Still, the spelling slip has left fans questioning quality control, especially after a recent promotional mishap saw an AI-generated WWE–AAA video incorrectly label Dominik Mysterio as AEW Champion.

The teaser didn’t stop there. Another blink-and-you-miss-it moment showed a calendar marked “Draft” on January 30, 2026. That detail has fueled hopes that the long-requested WWE Draft could finally be added to Universe Mode, or at the very least, that a major reveal is planned for that date.

Interestingly, January 30 also lines up with WWE’s SmackDown event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—just one night before the 2026 Royal Rumble on January 31. Whether coincidence or calculated timing, the teaser has clearly done its job: fans are talking, theorizing, and scrutinizing every detail.

For now, WWE and 2K have stayed silent on the alleged Orton error. But if history is any indication, this small “botch” may be exactly what keeps WWE 2K26 trending long before its official reveal.
