WWE Legend Drops Bombshell: “Bron Breakker, Not Brock Lesnar, Should Retire John Cena!”

John Cena’s farewell tour has been nothing short of legendary. The 17-time World Champion announced he’ll hang up his boots at the end of 2025, and ever since, the WWE Universe has been riding an emotional rollercoaster.

From winning his record-breaking 17th world title at WrestleMania 41, to finally turning heel for the first time in his career, Cena has made sure his retirement run will never be forgotten. After dropping the title to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, the Cenation Leader was brutally attacked by a returning Brock Lesnar—setting the stage for what many assumed would be his final feud.

But not everyone thinks “The Beast Incarnate” should be the one to end Cena’s career.

Bubba Ray Dudley Wants a Shocking Twist

On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley gave his honest take: he doesn’t want Cena’s last opponent to be a fellow veteran like Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, or even Brock Lesnar. Instead, he believes the torch should be passed to the next generation—and that man is Bron Breakker.

“Bron Breakker. I don’t want to see Seth Rollins in there with John. I don’t want to see Randy Orton in there with John. I don’t want to see Cody,” Bubba explained. “This match isn’t about five-star wrestling. It’s about the moment. The moment when that final bell rings and you’re the guy standing across from John Cena in his last-ever match. That should go to someone who needs it.”

Why Bron Breakker Could Be “The Guy”

While Cena himself reportedly prefers Brock Lesnar as his last rival, Dudley’s logic makes sense. Lesnar doesn’t need the rub—he’s already one of the most dominant names in wrestling history. But for Breakker, a win (or even just sharing the ring with Cena in his final match) could skyrocket his career.

With Cena’s last bout set to happen in Boston later this year, the question remains: Will WWE give this career-defining moment to an already established icon like Lesnar, or will they let a rising star like Bron Breakker step into history?

One thing’s for sure—when John Cena wrestles for the final time, the world will be watching.
