Roman Reigns Just Dropped a Brutal Truth Bomb About CM Punk That Fans Never Saw Coming

There is no love lost between Roman Reigns and CM Punk. But just days before their massive WrestleMania 42 showdown, Reigns decided to say what a lot of people have been thinking.

In a candid interview with Michael Cole, the Tribal Chief was asked a simple question: what is it about CM Punk that actually bothers him the most? His answer wasn’t just about their personal war. It was bigger. It was personal. And it stings.

Reigns didn’t hold back. He said the version of Punk that fans once worshipped doesn’t exist anymore.

“What irks me the most is I put in all that work to get us to the point where we could move on from people like CM Punk, John Cena, The Rock,” Reigns explained. “I got it to a point where we were so strong within our own full-time roster, and now I look around and it’s a retirement act here, a retirement act there. We’re living off this nostalgia of CM Punk and it’s not 2012.”

Then came the line that will be quoted for years.

“The magic and the mystique of him is gone now. He’s just a regular guy. That’s what pisses me off the most.”

Reigns went on to say that he poured his soul into carrying WWE forward, only to watch others drop the ball. And as for Punk’s recent mind games?

“Punk is what he is. He’s tried his hardest in the last two months to affect me, my status, my product, my superstardom, all of it. He can’t.”

The two will finally settle things in the night two main event of WrestleMania 42, this Sunday, April 19, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The World Heavyweight Championship is on the line. But after this interview, it feels like something much bigger is at stake.

Whether you love him or hate him, Roman Reigns just drew a line in the sand. And he’s betting that CM Punk is no longer the cult hero fans remember.
