WWE Star Admits He’s Losing Sleep Now That Brock Lesnar Is Back After Everyone Thought He Was Done

Cody Rhodes was sleeping just fine until last week. Now he’s wide awake, and he’s not hiding why.

Just when the WWE universe had accepted that Brock Lesnar was gone for good after his retirement at WrestleMania 42, the Beast Incarnate made a shocking return on Raw—and immediately went after Oba Femi. That unexpected comeback has already locked in a huge match between Lesnar and Femi at WWE Clash In Italy.

Sitting down with ESPN’s UnSportsmanLike, Rhodes got brutally honest about what Lesnar’s return really means for everyone in the back.

He admitted he was perfectly happy believing Lesnar had retired. Not because of fear, but because it let him hold onto those two personal wins over the former champion. But now? The uncertainty is getting to him.

“Brock concerns the entire locker room,” Rhodes said. “He’s such a presence. So difficult to beat in any aspect of our game. An absolutely genius businessman and an unbelievable athlete.”

That said, Rhodes isn’t writing off Oba Femi. He pointed straight back to what happened at WrestleMania and doubled down: “I think Oba’s got him again.”

As for how deep Lesnar could go, Rhodes is hoping for a long run all the way to SummerSlam, calling the two-night event a perfect stage for someone like Lesnar—especially with his Minnesota ties.

But here’s where Rhodes got really real. With permanent retirements from Goldberg, AJ Styles, and John Cena fresh on everyone’s mind, he’s had enough of wrestling’s goodbye-for-good act.

“I want to get back to ’90s-style retirements anyway,” Rhodes said. “Where we just say we’re retired and then we’re not. Terry Funk was retired for 20 years. Flair retired a bunch. Savage kept retiring.”

His message to the rest of the locker room: stop announcing definitive endings. Just say you’re taking a break.
