Former WWE Star Drops a Bombshell: ‘Jacob Fatu and I Have a Real History’

The wrestling world is buzzing, and not just because of the upcoming title clash between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu.

A WWE SmackDown superstar just opened up about a secret tie to the Samoan dynasty that fans are calling a major plot twist. Royce Keys, who you might remember from his time in AEW under a different name, sat down for a candid chat on the “UnSeen with Joey Karni” podcast. And he didn’t hold back.

Keys revealed that his connection to the industry’s most famous family runs much deeper than anyone realized.

“Jacob Fatu and I have a history together,” Keys said flatly. “I’ve known that family for quite a while. The Usos, Solo [Sikoa]… I’ve known that family a long time. So there is some history there.”

That single statement has sent fans into a frenzy, trying to piece together how this relatively new SmackDown star fits into the larger puzzle of The Bloodline saga.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Keys also shared the heartfelt meaning behind his new WWE ring name—a name that almost never happened.

“So it’s already out there,” he explained. “Royce is my middle son’s name. So that’s my tribute to him. And Keys? That’s part of my mom’s late mother’s last name. Put the two together, and it’s motivating. You can’t really mess up when you’ve got two people you love and care about watching you. That’s what the name is.”

The Match Everyone Is Talking About

This revelation comes at a perfect time. On this week’s episode of Raw, Roman Reigns officially accepted Jacob Fatu’s challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The two Samoan powerhouses will finally collide at Backlash 2026.

And while the tension is building toward that main event, Fatu himself is keeping things surprisingly humble behind the scenes.

In a separate interview with Daniel Cormier, The Samoan Werewolf opened up about what it really feels like to stand across the ring from Reigns.

“I have family here. I’m very blessed to have them lace me up here,” Fatu admitted. “Other people when they come to work don’t have that type of knowledge that I’m blessed to have. Not saying Roman and the Usos don’t talk to nobody. No, those are vets. They help everybody out.”

Then came the moment that showed the human side of the man they call a “werewolf.”

“At the end of the day, even though I’m about to wrestle against Roman, I’m still like, ‘Damn, dude. That’s Roman Reigns right there.’ I’m like, ‘Roman, you mind if I get a picture next?’ Shout out to Roman Reigns.”

With a personal history involving Royce Keys, a family war at Backlash, and a new SmackDown star honoring his son and grandmother with every match, WWE’s road to Backlash just got a whole lot more interesting.
